Wellness is a journey! An employee doesn’t get “well” and automatically stay that way. The quality of our health is a product of the choices we make on a daily basis. By concentrating on the treatment of disease and relief of symptoms, the medical profession has focused on the left side of the wellness spectrum.

Most people don’t voluntarily visit their doctor when they expect everything is okay. When symptoms appear, we have our doctor investigate the cause. Physicians have been trained primarily to diagnose and treat symptoms and restore our health back to its original state, or at least back to a state free from symptoms.

The right of the spectrum includes awareness and education, which influence our conscious choices that actually promote our health and well-being. It matters not so much where one is right now on the spectrum, but what direction movement is in, toward high level wellness, or toward disease and early death.

Reactive Care: Seek help when pain or symptoms occur

Proactive Care: Begin before symptoms and disease occur. Prevent disease and promote health screening and lifestyle assessment. Personal wellness goals and action plan, risk interventions before disease occurs
Track progress, reward change and evaluate outcomes
